Race et Histoire
Race et Histoire is the title of a lecture delivered at the invitation of UNESCO in Paris on 22 March 1971 by the anthropologist , ethnologist and philosopher Claude Lévi-Strauss (1908-2009). The text was first published in UNESCO's International Social Science Journal in December 1971, as a follow-up to and complemented by Race et Histoire, which was published by UNESCO in 1952. In Race et Histoire , The author asserts that a certain cultural closure is necessary to safeguard cultural diversity . The text provoked extremely critical reactions to UNESCO , even though Race et Histoire had been acclaimed.
