163p Since 2003 the conference series Information Technology in Environmental Engineering (ITEE) has established a platform for discussing the progress in the field. During the 6th ITEE 2013 conference, practitioners and scientists met at the Leuphana University Luneburg (Germany) to discuss recent developments, promising ideas, and new challenges in information management for supporting sustainability efforts. The 7th ITEE in 2015 was hosted for the first time outside of Europe in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The conference aimed at highlighting the impact companies and other large organisations have on limited global resources and how this can be improved through the use of technology. Setting up smart home and organisational environments to efficiently manage the consumption of scarce resources such as water and electricity will be one of the themes of the conference. Sustainability and integrated reporting is another key issue that will be addressed. We were very pleased to welcome both international and national researchers and professional representatives from industry to the conference.
