Perancangan Fasilitas Penanganan Demensia dengan Mengoptimalisasi Ruang Sesuai Kepribadian Introversi dan Ekstroversi di Jakarta


Dementia is a degenative disease which causes irreversible cognitive and sensory impairment. People with dementia needs intensive care because they can not live independently anymore. Ironically, Indonesia as the fourth most populated country in the world, has higher prevalence percentage than global prevalence. In Jakarta, the role of nuclear family to care people with dementia is limited because they need to work. As the result, people with dementia are entrusted in nursing home. However, people with dementia tends to feel abandoned by their families. Therefore, architectural role is needed to accommodate that phenomenon.
Understanding the behavior of people with dementia based on phenomological approach is needed for designing Dementia Care Centre. In addition to help people with dementia maintain their remaining quality of life and slow the deterioration, it is necessary to accommodate the psychological needs such as their desire to be noticed by the surrounding. Creating comfortable and convenient spaces for people with dementia emphasizes on spatial configuration based on basic human personalities. Basic personalities that consists of introversion and extroversion will be translated into spatial configuration for Dementia Care Centre.
