The proliferation of slum residential areas in Muara Angke caused various negative impacts such as economic, social and environmental problem. In relation to its settlement and housing studies, the negative impacts that occurred in Muara Angke are the reduction of space for housing, public spaces, trade facilities and activities. With residents occupying more than 60% of the total area, it is difficult to provide areas for public and private facilities for the local residents which mainly worked as fisherman. In order to solve the issue, the research will be focusing on designing the housing typology that suits the area context and fisherman lifestyle. Through the redesign of the area at Muara Angke Port area, it will also be able to revitalize the ecosystem at Muara Angke Port which has been polluted and has the potential to activate the economic sector of tourism in the water and improve the image of the Muara Angke area as the waterfront of Jakarta, while at the same time providing a good quality housing for local residents.
