Uncontrolled construction costs or cost overruns have become a common problem in construction work. Cost overruns occur when the actual cost exceeds the cost of the project's budget plan (RAB). The value of the RAB is obtained from the volume of work multiplied by the unit price of each unit of work. Estimator/Quantity Surveyor has an important role in making the RAB, one of them in calculating the volume of work. This final project focuses on estimating the structural work volume of the Kemang Penthouse Apartment project which is still in the pre-tender stage. The project structure work is divided into 2 parts, there are the lower structure and the upper structure. The lower structure work consists of earthworks, bored pile foundation and pile cap works while the upper structure works consist of beam, column, plate, and shear wall work. The calculation of the structure volume in this project uses the Indonesian Measurement Method Standard that called SMPI. SMPI has been the basis for measuring the volume of construction work in Indonesia since 2003. Volume calculation on projects needs to be planned well because it is importance of accurate estimates in pricing of each element / component of the work unit. The process of decomposition and taking off needs to be done properly so that it can become one of the references in making project documents such as in cost estimates and schedule estimates. The first step taken in carrying out the calculation process is to understand the construction drawings and then create a WBS hierarchically. WBS is used in planning and making a BQ list sequence, after that is processing on taking off. Taking Off is the process of calculating the volume and identifying the quality of the work elements reviewed in accordance with the Detail Engineering Design. The process of calculating structural elements using the help of Ms. software. Excel and AutoCad. In carrying out the process of calculating the volume of structural work, there are a number of things that need to be considered, namely the ability to read good construction drawings, know the latest developments on the revised drawings and require an understanding of structural specifications.
